Spear removal on 2005 vert. surprise

FYI. I had read the old posts and had not noticed this situation addressed so I thought I would throw it out. I am removing all emblems, spears, handles, etc. I was removing the spears (dental floss, heater and goo gone) on my 05 vert. this morning and found a 1 inch manufactured hole underneath the rear spear. Sort of a bummer. I was already planning on body work for the shaved handles but others might not. Just thought you all might want to know.
