Default Anyone ever installed aftermarket sport seats?

It's me again...I think I'm going to solve my "pinching" seat problem in my new GT by buying new seats. I've been looking at replacing the new GT seats with an aftermarket sport seat (one that I will try...before I buy). I've looked at Tenzo, Corbeau, and Sparco. I'm leaning toward the Corbeau, but not sure they make a mounting bracked for the PT.

Has anybody ever installed custom sport seats, if so, do you like the seats and how much of a problem are they to install. Finally....anybody have interest in buying my new standard GT seats in the black cloth?

Thanks,

Thayne

[8D]Before you drop a GT full of money! How about go and see about getting the seat repaded and covered to fit you. Any good stitch guy could repad, remold, the seat just for you! I am not sure but I bet it might be cheaper!

I have a 03 GT and had cloth seats because I knew I was going to change color, etc! I had them, recovered , refitted for me, plus in the material and color I want!

all i have to say is be prepared to pay big bucks!!! In my '01 i put in a set of sparco's, and had to have custom brackets fabricated for them, as i understand there is NO company that makes brackets. You either have to mod your oem ones or fabricate new ones. ALSO, it has come to my attention that the brackets and risers seem to have a slightly different configuration to the older PT's: ie. my '03 GT V.S. my '01 Touring. But if you plan on installing aftermarket seats, i would suggest Sparco's, but if you think these OEM seats are tight, i think you have another thing coming with sparcos...you would probably prefer corbeaus. I would tend to steer clear of anything other than sparco, recaro, corbeau, and momo.

Check around this site. They seem to make aftermarket custom seats for PTs.

I would think that most racing seats would be a problem for anyone with large thighs. By nature, racing seats are make with high side seat bolsters to keep you in place during high G turns. I found that the seats in my brothers Corvette fit me quite nicely at 150 lbs but are not nearly as comfortable at 195 lbs. The seats from the non-turbo PT's do not have the same degree of bolstering on the sides that the Turbo seats or the racing seats do.

Try before you buy or you make have an even greater problem.

My 2 cents.
