Front Grill Guards

Has anyone seen grill guards for sale that will keep bugs/rocks etc from entering the rad area? Specifically am looking for an insert type that Lund or other manufacturers makes for full size trucks,
not a mesh type that is attached to a bra.

By your screen nick I assume you have a GT. GT's in general have a problem getting enough air flow under the hood to keep things cooled off as it is. I would think long and hard before adding anything that could decrease the air through the grill even more.

If you did that mod in such a way as to make it removable, you could try it and if it caused heat problems, go back to square one.

Yes I have the turbo and to date was not aware of any cooling problems.
I have a older GM truck that I have had the Lund summer and winter grill inserts attached since I bought it (1992) and have had no issues with cooling (other than when towing a large boat).
I would be willing to try some kind of insert in the PT just so that I can protect the rad from debris. Having to replace the rad would be much more costly than investing in an insert kit (and having to remove it, if in fact I experienced a cooling issue).

I would install the 180 degree thremostat if you did find something to use to protect the rad.

No engineer here, but I would think anything that has small enough holes to keep bugs out would keep too much air out and make the car even more like a sailboat than it already is.

I have a front bra by Colagan. I only use it when we take some country rides up to West Virgina. This helps with the bugs and rock chips.

They are a pain to keep up. You must not get them wet and they should be taken off each time you wash the car. Clean the back side to make sure no sand or dirt is trapped or it will scuff your paint.

I also make sure the front is properly waxed and sealed before putting it on.

Had a bra on our old Nissan Maxima and with care it never became a problem with the paint.
