Pry out the window switch - that will expose a screw. Take the screw out, pull off the vent control knobs, and pull the console off.

okay, i wont thank you. i'll just say:

i would have snapped the trim in two, as i did not suspect a screw behind the pw plate. i plan on installing a 12v powered antenna amplifier, so i need to get to the back of the radio.

just a heads up before anyone tries adding an in-line 12 volt antenna booster. it can't be done.

the antenna cable going into the radio has a built-in and un-removable plastic locking sleve attached. you can walk out the antenna cable from the back of the radio, but the locking sleve is too big to go into the antenna booster unit. i'm now on the hunt for a longer (more than 31") antenna mast to get better reception.

31" is optimum for FM reception (1/4 wave).
a longer antenna will help with AM, but not FM.

good info. i did not know 31" was a target-size for fm reception.
i found a 40" replacement mast antenna at a local auto parts chain. i'm a AM talk radio listener, so the longer mast has worked out great - especially under bridges and when driving along bay area electric trolly train ways.
