Default Front license plate placement

The wonderful state of California (I say that with a loud snicker) has a 2-license plate requirement; i.e. you must have the front plate mounted on the front bumper. I really don't want to drill holes into my new DC2 front bumper. [:0] Most of the relocation brackets won't fit the GT and I've only seen one that will fit (kustomkrzr).

Wondering how the rest of you GT owners mounted your front plates (if you even have)? Hoping to get some other ideas for placement.

Thanks guys and gals!

RI req 2 plates. Mine came torqued in as usual.
can't place the plate low cause it blocks the intercooler. Unless u mount off center, but that'd look dumb. Course you can do a reverse L bracket from under the bumeper that swings up in front of the bumper. you'd have to wing that one tho.

You might want to consider painting the stock black license plate bracket Tangerine to match your DC2. Others that have done this have been pleased with the results. Just my two cents.

Painting the bracket is the least of my worries. Just want a "clean" way of mounting the front plate without having to drill directly into the front bumper. May be no other way around this, but thought I'd ask and see if I had any options first.

I think PTGT is on to something. I don't know if there is anything to mount to but a bracket going thru the lower grill right below the bumber is a possiblity. It would be basically hidden and out of view. Could end up with a look as if the plate was floating.

I have a 2003 GT and have been thinking about that problem _ I purchased the Origional bracket for moving the Plate. It mounts to the frount bumber reinforcement and blocks the Intercooler. next purrchased a L shape bracket...It also looks as if it will block the intercooler...thinking about a bracket thet mounts to the bottom of the lower grill opening (using something like U bolts) that will display the plate at an angle like a door wedge do thast the air comming accross the plate will be directed to the intercooler.
Have not had time to do that - still working on a way to cover the battery.
I think I have a battery cover soultion - using a Autozone plastic cover cut to fit the contour of the enging compartment...
Will drive to Niagara Falls as a final test... then Post...

Other than being illegal (my morals are slipping), why do you need a front plate? For daily driving, unless you do something to attract their attention, cops have better things to do than look for front plates. If you need it for the annual inspection use an under-the-bumper bracket held on with 3M Red Liner tape and remove it when you get home.
If caught, plead ignorance (I don't know what my husband did with it!) or pay the fine.

My thoughts exactly, BUT times are a changin' (at least around here). Cops around here WILL pull you over for the minor infractions now, which includes no front plate and an object hanging from your rearview mirror. I originally was not going to put my front plate on, just have it up on my dash when driving, but it's not worth the hassle (literally) that you get when pulled over and if they pull me over for no front plate a second time it's a $600 fine. So, although my stubbornness generally rules, my pocketbook is thinking differently on this one.

I will post a pic of my bracket that I made. It relocates the plate below the bumper and to the left (facing the front). Keeps it out of the way of the intercooler and actually looks pretty cool (if I do say so myself). It kind of gives it a retro hotrod look.

(5 minutes later)
Well I will post it when I can get my neighbors digi camera. I just called and they are gone. If they come back soon I will get it.
