Tire Size

I have to admit with all the mods I have done to my car there is one thing I know little about. Tire & Rim size. I have a stock height 2002 and I want to know what is the largest & widest tires and rims I can put on without rubbing or interference. I want to put 18" rims on but when it comes to the numbers I am at a loss. If I knew then it would be easier to shop for tires & rims

In the wheel forum there are a lot of replys to this question.
"When someone changes the size of the wheels on a car the tires must me replaced also.
If you have 16" wheels, the tires are the standard "profile" (width of the sidewall), the circumference of the tire is critical.
If you change the size of the wheel to a 17", you need to get tires with a "lower profile" to maintain the correct circumference.
This means that the area between the tire and the wheelwell will remain the same as it is now.
Go to the following website and put in your year and model and when the cruiser comes up click on the tires under ASA JS5, it has three sizes and you will see what I tried to explain.

i recenly put 18s on my gt and am running 245 40 18r and love the handling and grip

I got a 2002 non turbo, but if it helps, I got 18x8 in the rear with 245x40 Conti tires... work fine. For the front, thats another story...
