Default Side Mirrors

Did Chrysler eliminate the retracting side mirrors with the 2003 models? [:I] I've seen chrome covers for the retractable mirrors, but I was wondering if covers were available for the fixed mirrors seen on the 03' models....

JoJoPet,

As one of the cost saving mesures, Chrysler did indeed do away with the retractable side mirrors for the 03 model. Have you asked ay of the dealers if the chrome cover for the folding mirrors will fit the non-folding type? I haven't checked closely, but there maybe not too much difference between the two except for the split where the mirrors actually folded.

This one's from www.milehighpts.com

I've been waiting for the nonsplit version chrome mirror covers since I got my '03 DreamCruiser and all I keep hearing is, "someone is working on it." I've considered replacing my mirrors with the retractable ones, but not sure I want to go through the hassle.

If anyone has heard that the split mirror covers will still fit on the non-split type, let me know. Hadn't considered that option.

Personally, I think getting rid of the retractable mirrors was a bad move on DC's part...my husband has a 2001 PT and we retract his mirrors while it's parked in the garage...makes it easier to get between the vehicles. Just my lousy 2 cents.

I AGREE, I have been going back and forth between buying new folding mirrors, or not. but I can't justify spending the $250, I'm just going to get mine painted and that it,

I used APC carbon fiber style mirrors on my black GT. I like the look but the mirrors are small and are not power or heated. While those are on, I am painting the o.e. mirrors body color. I hand sanded the texture off them with 220 wet or dry paper, now it's off to the paint shop. The mirrors are easy to remove and one screw on the back holds the complete power mechanism in place. You will have to pop the door panel off to get at the electrical connector. I saw some cars at Carlisle with the mirrors painted and they look great. Check out the links in the photo gallery.

I have a perfect set of 2002 folding power mirrors and I'll trade for a set of 2003 fixed power mirrors.
