Default PT Turbo Pods

I know that all this stuff is in the kitty somewhere, I was just wondering if the color matched and sized pillar pod for the PT has been released? Before I bump the boost I want to be able to see what is happening.[8D]

Kirby,

Me too. I e-mailed Autometer asking about a 2 or 3 gauge pillar a few weeks ago. They didn't offer much in the way of a response that made me very optimistic. They just said all we have is the taupe ones...no word on when or if they would produce the light gray versions used on the GT.

However, I have heard that you can paint the taupe ones to match the light gray color pretty closely. I'm concerned with how good the finish would look, though. And if it would crack or flake if the pillar trim piece flexed or twisted...or if it would just start to flake over time.

I have done it with Medium Gray (#428) Plasticoat vinyl paint. It's pretty close to the original color and to make it look like a match I painted the right side pillar moulding also. The problem you run into is the texture of the pillar pod is different from the original and the paint looks glossier than the original. I solved the problem with a light coat of Testors Dull Coat. You can get this at most hobby shops. Modelers us it to make any color gloss paint flat. I looks perfect and since you can't see the window mouldings behind you and the A pillar mouldings at the same time it looks like stock. Cheers CJJ

If I'm going to do the job, I'd like to have an MPP insignia somewhere just to show a stock upgrade. How about you guys?

hey Kirby, i have the auto meter triple gauge pod in my gt, i ordered it from summit racing part # 17215 and i used mopar interior primer and the light grey interior paint. everyone that sees the pod says is that stock bc it looks so close to the other side they can't tell the difference. if you need me to post the paint and primer part #'s just let me know and i will find my old can of paint.

the pod started out as taupe color.

thanks tommy

put the auto meter 2 gauge pod with gray faced boost/vac gauge and trans temp. I had to pull the pan to weld the adaptor in the trans pan for the sensor. the car had 500 miles on it. I was surprised to find the magnet in the pan had collected a lot of stuff and there was some metal in the pan also. I think this maybe normal most people don,t pull the pan after 500 miles. Get 14 psi boost and if you want gas mileage the vaccum gauge really helps. the vinyl dye works great on the pod. tried to use double sided tape to hold it on but ended up having to drill and use the push pins that came with the kit hated to drill a hole in the original part. will have to order one to have when I sell the car and keep the gauges

the paint part # is 5072272AA and the primer part # is 4443633 and any local dealer or myself can order these for you

just clean the pod with alki. first then prime 2 or 3 coats then 2 or 3 coats of paint and you are good to go.

once i figure out how to post pics i will , unles anyone else wants to post the pics for me.

thanks tommy

i can pass on a good deal on Mopar guages . however i don't know what the price difference if between the mopar gauges vs the autometer gauges. the mopar gauges are autometer gauges in mopar boxes and with the mopar face on them. i like the "M" on my face of my gauges.

if anyone wants a price just email me
thanks tommy
