Default Two tone Dream Cruiser!?!?!

Hey everyone, I'm new here on the board. I bought an 03' Dream Cruiser in April, an hour after I brought the car home I noticed that the front and rear passenger side doors were two completely different shades of the same color. I took the car to a buddy of mine that owns a body shop, he used an instrument that measures paint thickness and found that the off colored door has in fact been painted twice!! The car was sold to me as "new". Any thoughts on this? I have a few lawyer friends that are salivating right now. I would rather not have it go to litigation, but so far I have been utterly stonewalled. Sorry for the long winded post, however I am very frustrated with DC right now. Thanks in advance for any input.

P.S I'll try to post a picture of the doors

Mike

the DC2 paint scheme is a 5 color combo. Pain to match and expensive to make.
Inferno red is a similar issue as well as the DC1's.

Mike,

Have you taken it back and talked to the dealer? The car could have had a slight mishap in transportation and the dealer tried to patch it up. Yes, they probably should have told you, but that doesn't make the car "used" or improperly sold as "new". Find out for sure, confront the dealer and see what they say...also try and compare it to another DC (if they have one). Good Luck.

P.S. Lawyers always dribble that way.

I took the car back a week later and was told that "Because you own it now, the problem is between you and DC". As far as discloser is concerned you are right, If they had fixed the problem they are under no obligation to tell me unless the damage exceeds 3% of the value of the vehicle. However, they didnt fix it (in fact they made it worse by putting a second coat of paint on it. They therefore find no immunity under the three percent rule (Virginia law). In Vrginia it is unlawful to sell blemished, damaged, defective goods as "new" unless the consumer is informed of the defect. The point is; I now own a vehicle worth hundreds if not thousands less than an identical dream cruiser with out paint defects. I have been told by the dealer to work with DC, and DC tells me to work with the dealer!!! Does anyone have a number to managment over at DC customer service?

I don't think your car is worth less because it was repainted, and besides, dealers do it all the time, we should all get used to it.

Since the repainted part of the car does not match the original paint IMHO the customer purchased a new car but received a damaged/repaired vehicle not repaired properly--[u]this is NOT RIGHT</u>! [V] I would recommend you pursue this matter further to get what you paid for--a new car that has all the paint the same color. Sounds as though your dealer is something less than a "Five-Star" dealership. Good luck.

I'd fuss about it. I also have a 03 dreamer. Had my mirrors painted and they don't match perfect so for your doors to be that way they did something to it. I'd surely get ahold of the sales manager or something...

I'm setting up an appointment with my lawyer to draft up a letter to send to the dealership president. This will be my final request for a full refund or replacement of the vehicle. Thanks to everyone for your input, I will let you know how it goes.

I just had a scratch fixed on my car that required paint. When we entered the paint code on my 03 Tangerine Dream Cruiser, the computer said 'Approximate Match only!'.We sprayed it on a test card and it was too light. We then ordered a pint of PPG Global (they have the correct color in their selection) and the color was a dead-on match right out of the can after being diluted with thinner per the paint can instructions. You cannot see any difference at all where mine was done.PPG's Global line is the same stuff that is OE for cars like Ferrari, Lamobo, etc. It was about $60 a pint shop cost, but worth it to get the right color.
