Just used a fine black Sharpie for coloring in the 2.4 TURBO on the intake and it looks great, just like Gary's!

Just lucky, I guess. At first I planned to use medium blue wire looms because I didn't think I would be able to find anything close in color to Seamist Green. However, after checking further with the company I found they made these in teal which I ordered. When I got them they turned out to be a very good color match... [^]

Gary i have some molding to replace the black at the rear of the hood on the car , and all around the inside of the hood on the body of the car. and it is the same color as your great looking engine compartment, I was going to dio the same to mine but the elect blue is hard to match. I paid 15 for it and would send u a small peace to check and if you want it just replace my $15.00 = ship. I will take a pic and put it on WWW.PTCW.truckmoxie.com/amx1397/ look there Friday
thanks jim.

Thanks, Jim. I will check it out after you post the picture but don't think I want to add anymore color to the engine bay. When it comes to detailing my thinking is--"less is more"--if you know what I mean.

does anyone know if silcinoe hose from hose techniques will melt in those "hot" areas under the hood?

also can silicone hose be used as a replacement for the pcv, hose and washer hoser?

punch

p.s. in the process of some underhood detailing......

Same question. [:I] After reading the posts that Gary points to, melted harnesses are not something I want. Maybe silicon hoses are the key. are they replacement or looms?

haven't checked PTDOITYOURSELF but a good tutorial, step-by-step would be a great addition.

I think most of us would like to do this!

umm, I bought silicone and wire looms, both red.

the silicone hose can be used as a replacement to your stock vacuum hose's, windshield washer hose's, and can also be split down the middle to fit over anythin you can think of.

the wire loom can go over anything you can think off, will post pics tomorrow when it daylight out, of what i have done so far.

my only concern now is things melting, from what they say at hosetechniques, its good for very hot temperatures.

Punch, maybe this will be assistance to you...

Hope the picture (original installation) below helps. Instead of arrows, the affected wires/hoses are outlined in green and blue. The "looms" installed on the wires outlined in green were completely removed. The blue outlines show the sections of wire/hose that were shortened to get them far enough away from the engine heat source to prevent any melting. The most severe heat in the engine bay seems to be in the area directly behind and to the right of the engine--a real "melting pot"!!! Also, it goes without saying to make sure no part of any "loom" is touching the engine block or any metal tubing, etc., coming out from the block. Good luck.
