Default Looking for ballparks on Hood painting...

I'm a hair away from ordering Keystone hood. Curious what those that have swapped out their hoods have paid for having them painted. I've had whole cars painted before but they were buckets so I went for the el cheapo Maaco option. This is the first time I've needed to just get a single piece painted. I know it's gonna differ by locale and whatnot but I'd like to get a rough idea so I can slap the guy behind the counter if he quotes me something way over the top. My PT's just Black Clearcoat so I'm not looking at having to fork out for any exotic paints.

Will likely have it done in the NYC area, so any suggestions from those folks would be great.

hehe, didn't mean Maaco was subpar, I meant I'd only used their bottom rung package when I'd taken my old unmarked to them. I think 250 was what I paid to have the whole car done.

Found a place down the road from me that said they'd test fit, primer/paint and mount it for me for $350. I had intended on just having it painted and do the install myself but if they're only gonna charge me $80-$100 to save me some hassle I may just do it.

Opinions?

That sounds like a pretty good price. When I got the shaker hood painted on my dakota r/t that is what they charged me and I installed it myself.

Thanks Timmy. It seemed like a decent quote to me. I'll likely tell him to stuff the install and do it myself to see if I can get the price down a bit more. I don't trust anyone with my baby.

Well considering that $350 includes the liabilty just in case it mounts unproperly and dents something or you slip and chip the paint...Id say go for it.

to hell, with someone else adding something to my PT. they can paint it for me but ..... i will be the one putting in all the wrench-time. to me at lest in feels got to know when someone askes you if you did that you can look them right in the eyes and tell them every last detail adout you car for the coil to the exhaust system. or if you like me you just give them a little tast of what is there [8)]

Aye that's more or less what I've been trying to justify the little extra cash for. Of course if he does foul the job then I get to dance with him about getting it fixed. It'll likely come down to time. I want this done...NOW! hehe. So if he can get it all done in short fashion I'll likely let him roll with it even though I'd prefer to do it myself as Gothic mentioned.
