Default Engine Cowl Removal

I have read the post by IRPT about the removal of the drivers side windshield wiper to remove the drivers side engine cowl but I am still not sure what "over/center position" means. Looking at the picture out of the service manual it looks like the same position that they are in when turned off, is this correct?

it just means the wiper arm is flipped up, over/centre.

also a tip is to use a battery terminal puller if the blade is on the pivot to tight.

Thanks crash2004, I think I will be able to pick up my painted engine cowls this weekend so I will be removing the cowl Friday night.

This may be old news but I'll put it here just in case.

When removing the cowl covers, the philips screws appear to have black washers under them. These "washers" are actually anchors which spread when the screws are in. After the screws are out, they must be pried out using a screwdriver or something.

Thanks 2sb, I probably would have missed that.

I removed my engine cowls today and replaced them with painted cowls and it looks good. I am going to try and take some pictures tomorrow and I will post them.
2sb, the anchors for the cowl screws don't seem to work all that well on the reinstall, any idea where I could get new ones?

Dealer probably has them like in packets of five. Are you worried because the threads felt stripped or is there another reason? I wouldn't worry about stripped threads. Two of mine were already stripped the first time I removed them. Courtesy of the assembly line. They'd of been harder to strip if they weren't fine threaded. DC must have gotten a deal on the screws!

Yes they feel stripped, two were like that when I removed it, now they all feel that way although they appear to be holding ok.

Just keep an eye on them and if they don't start backing out, they're fine.
