Default A couple more mods over the weekend......

I bought a G2 brake caliper paint kit in late January and just got around to using it over the weekend. I also bought a Stull billet aluminum beltline kit a month ago but couldn't make up my mind whether I really wanted it on or not. (I got such a screamin' deal on it from RaceAndStreet that I could have resold it on eBay and gotten all my money back). I like this beltline kit for a few reasons: 1)it isn't chromed plastic but real aluminum 2)it doesn't wrap all the way around the car; instead it runs down both sides from about halfway around the hood to just behind the back side windows 3)the ends are a nice three step taper echoing the ends of the Chrysler wing logo.

Oh yeah, I painted the raised "2.4L Turbo" on the intake runners too, but I forgot to take a picture. I plan on getting Adam's intake setup in red to go along with it so I'll post pix when that gets here. In the meantime, here's a shot of the caliper and front of the Stull beltline. You can see more at my website on THIS page.

Mike:

One of our local PT Cruiser club members has one of those Stull beltline kits and think they really look real sharp. Where did you get your G2 brake caliper paint kit? Is there much "prep and dry time" involved? How long is the paint expected to last?

Thanks.

Gary, I got the G2 kit at http://store.dragracing.com/product....2200&catid=101 since they had a really great price and FREE shipping! Gotta love that. Prep time was pretty quick, but then again my car only has about 3000 miles on it, almost all in nice weather. Not sure if that makes a difference, but they didn't look all that dirty to begin with! The kit comes with a spray cleaner that does a pretty good job. You might want to hit it with a stiff brush, but that's about it.

gary--the paint kits are available on ebay quite often. the kit comes with aerosol cleaner for cleaning and degreasing, the paint, catalyst and a small brush to apply the paint. when i painted my calipers, i just lifted the car totally off the ground, removed the wheels, cleaned and brushed any loose dirt grease and rust scale and painted away. there is plenty of paint to do the calipers. might be enough to paint the hats on the rotors. certainly enough to hilight the raised aluminum on your turbo manifold. i though of the last option about 8 hours after the paint had hardened in the can into a brick. doh! you have a number of hours to work with the paint, enough time for 2 coats. the next time i will just mix 1/2 the paint and save the other 1/2 for paint projects.
