I've been looking around for something to replace the stock charcoal "fake leather boot" on my car's Autostick shifter. Anyone know where I can get one that will fit the GT? Leather would be nice, but, it is not "a must have"--a good quality vinyl boot would be just fine especially if I could find one in blue. Thanks for your help.

MOMO makes a good variety of leather boots in various sizes - they all seem to run around $50 though jic that's more than you wanted to spend.

Thanks, Beacon. Looks like MOMO http://www.ppsonline.net/shiftboot.htm may have one that will work for $34.95. What is the best way to remove the plastic/metal (?) ring at the base of the shifter to install a new boot without damaging anything?

You mean disconnect the boot and ring from the console itself or the actual ring at the base that the boot is attached to?
This is all assuming the A/S attaches the same as the manual - it should anyway. ![]() The ring itself has a lip on the front edge, so pull up from the back and it should just pop right up. If you turn the boot upside-down you'll see it attaches with a series of small plastic teeth/clips around the edge of the bottom, the boot has slots that the teeth/clips go through and that's all that holds it in place. The boot is kind of rolled over the edge. You'll see what I mean once ya get it off. That's sweet you found 'em that cheap - you can check http://www.ltbmotorsports.com/ and http://www.imotorgear.com for some better pictures of the boots. |
