Default Thinking about new frontend

hey all, finally have got my wife wanting to change out the frontend on "HER" electric blue GT, she's wanting to get the "PTeazer Retro Full-Grille With Urethane Front Fascia"
http://www.autotrucktoys.com/ptcruis...egory_ID=9 56
if any of you have done this what did it cost you to get it painted at your local bodyshop? I realize this price will vary depending on what part of the country your in nd will also vary from bodyshop to bodyshop but I'm trying to get a idea of what to expect.

Remember, PT Teazer has a disclaimer that their front ends are for show car use. Some of them require the removal or replacement of the front crashbar and may compromise safety.
Front ends are not cheap from PT Teazer. Cost of installation varies depending on how much modification is required for mounting.

Expect a decent amount. You dont want to be cheap with paint, especially the front. The smallest rock will chip the paint easily. Look at a grand. If you spend a little less, then great. Invest the rest into a bra.

hi taz

this is my first post, but am a long time reader. just waited till there was a question i could help with.

i just did the kit you are thinking of doing. i did the install my self and had a local body guy for the paint.

first you need to test fit the bumper for clearance around the intercooler then fit the grill ALL BEFORE PAINTING. then have the body shop call ray at pteazer for tips on how to spray the grill. my guy did it three times before it came out right. some thing do with placing the grill in a way so the paint does not run.

also the metal flake is real corse so macthing is no easy, so go to some one that does custom paint.

finally i paid around $ 500.00 per part, after prep & matierals.

plus i got my stuff from pt tuning as a package for alittle lesss$$$.

I don't think paint match should be a problem. These days most body shops doen't mix custom paint, they just buy the factory paint and shoot unless there is a lot of sun damage to a finish, then they will tell you that they may not be able to get a good match.

Hey Taz,

For a different look, you can try www.trickcruiser.com

Here's what they say about one of their popular front end kits:

"All our front ends utilize the original factory bumper reinforcement. In the event of a serious collision, your safety should not be compromised."

The kit made for the GT with stainless steel insert should be around $550.

I would love to buy one for my '03 GT, but I was just recently laid off from work...[B)]
