Default HELP!!!!!!

Hey guys! I need some help! I allow my girlfriend to smoke in my GT, and guess what? I didn't notice until she was back in her house. I don't know how she did it, she probably doesn't know either. She burned a hole in the top of the passenger seat. I have the gray cloth seats, not the leather seats. I haven't told her yet. I didn't call her last night when I saw it because I would have blown my top![xx(] HELP!!!!!!! How can I fix this or get it fixed without it costing me an arm and a leg. My PT is still fairly new; I just made my 4th payment last week! Does anyone have advice on how to fix it, and how much it will cost????? HELP!!!!!![:0]

Get ready to give up the arm and leg. The only "fix" is to replace the seat cover. Perhaps an upholstery shop could replace that one panel but it could end up being more expensive than just replacing the cover. If you are handy with that sort of thing you can probably buy the seat cover and R&R it yourself. I have helped my son replace the upholstery in his car with a leather kit so it can be done.

Thanks Cal! I guess I have to get the seat cover from Chrysler. I can do it myself (been working on cars for 20 years, although not interiors) so it shouldn't be too hard. How hard was it change your son's seat covers? And how much was the leather kit, if you don't mind me asking? I got the cloth seats beacuse the exact car I wanted was available (within 50 miles) without leather. Looking for it with leather would have taken alot longer. I also thought the cloth seats would be sportier. Anyway, thank for the feedback!

You should tell your girlfriend what happened and why she can no longer smoke in your GT. She should be able to wait until she is out of the car to smoke and if you go on a long trip then just pull over and let her have a smoke. Besides, your GT is eventually going to smell like an ashtray. Though unintentional, smokers burn things all of the time. [xx(]

We did a leather kit in his Toyota. It wasn't that hard, just time consuming. You will need a hog ring pliers and hog rings. Not expensive though. The full leather kit for his car ran about $800 I think.

Just be sure to make a note of all of the places that you remove a hog ring from when taking off the old cover and put one back in the same place. It should come out great.

or if you want less stress, use heavier zip ties. hog rings aren't for everyone.

Thank you for all the feedback guys! I told her about it the next day. I told her calmly; didn't blow my top. I understand it was an accident, that's why smoking is no longer allowed in the car. Believe it or not, the car still smells new, because I always opened the windows and sunroof, and put on the vents. I definately will contact Chrysler about a new seat cover, and will be doing it my self. BigTommy, thanks for the idea of the zip ties. I will probably use them first, then replace the ties with the hog rings. Thank you all for the input!

P.S. Mean Green, I know Quicksilver's tranny had problems, but now I see you listing a new '04. Is poor Quicksilver gone? By the way, like your pics!

You might also want to get the interior cabin filter which will make the interior keep smelling newer longer. Mine is two years old and it still faintly has that leather smell!!

Armor All leather wipes also do the trick, cheap and easy to use. Keeps leather having that slippery feel without it feeling like it is all over your clothes and hands.

Yep, Quicksilver is gone. Got screwed by the previous sales manager on the extended warranty (should have read it closer instead of believing what he said) so instead of blowing $3000 on the tranny we traded it in and got an '04 Graphite PT and a 90,000 mile warranty. My wife uses her PT a lot for work and the '01 had over 80,000 miles and no more warranty.
