Gary, use the hack-saw to cut it right out. Then put in a Hurst STS !! [8)] The difference is UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Can you describe the difference with the hurst? One of our club members shortened the shaft like I wanted to do, and I drove the car, much tighter response with the shorter throw. seemed llike the ratio was more precise. Gary

[8] Gary, the position of the Hurst is just perfect. Throw on the shifts are much shorter, but it goes into the next gear very positively. With the OEM shifter, I was never confident that the thing was not going to get hung up in between gears or I wasn't going to get the next gear I was aiming for & seems to get worse with power shifts.[)]

Moparsupercenter has them on sale this month for $93. Also spend an extra $20 for the booger bushings. [8)]

I must be lucky, but my shifter seems just fine. It would be worth it if sloppy, but between the shifter (150) bushings (20) and the pistol grip shifter (a must if you are going that far, in my opinion) at another 150, you've got over 300 in it. 300 will get a strut brace and rear sway bar, or a set of springs installed, or an intake and some underhood bling, or a decent partial stereo upgrade, or, well it looks like I have some work to do...

Hey purple, in your sig it says you have an 04 Base? is that a base PT, non GT? if that is so, the shifting feels different between the GT and the NA. I feel more confident power shifting the NA's over the GT's. It feels sloppy in the GT's. But, I have the booger bushings, and the STS is on order so I'll be putting both those on soon. I've missed 3rd so many times, or shifting into 4th, I've grabbed 2nd, not good when you are at high mph and trying to go faster.

hacksaw will work fine, remove it from the car first.
if you want to shorten the throw even further you can drill a new hole in the lever mounted to the top of the tranny. and its free.

oh might only work on the T350 not the getrag
