Default Hood emblem?

Has anyone removed the hood emblem from the GT? I am considering it as is has begun to pit already. Are there any mounting holes or anything that would be noticalble if the emblem is removed?

Thanks

Although I havent taken off the stock emblem, my aftermarket hood has two little "dips" where the emblem can be placed...My thoughts are its not just held on with some glue.

There are 2 friction fasteners that are visible through access holes just behind the hood "catch" mechanism. They are meant to be a one-way fastener; they are pushed on and grip the pin they slide on to..

It is probably easier to break the pins off than to try to get something into the access holes to grip the fasteners to try to twist them back off.

Also, you run the risk of scratching the inner hood paint, and creating a potential for hidden rust to start growing.

This sounds like a dealer warranty item, as far as the pitting goes. I would let them take care of it, if possible.

Yeah I got to reading on PTdoityourself.net and it does look like I would have holes in my hood if I took the emblem off. I just don't like the way it looks...

Maybe I'll go the aftermarket hood approach sometime down the road...

There is an illuminaated hood emblem offered by one of the accessory vendors. I think it may be found in the list of vendors here or at the PT Enthuisists (sp?) site.

Yes, I have removed the hood emblem and yes there are two holes. Luckily my PT is black so I just left them alone. When my hood gets enough ROCK CHIPS I'll deal with them.

Gotta tell you though, removing that thing is a TOTAL PAIN!! Not only do you have the two tight guide pins to deal with, they sponge taped the entire back side.

I got mine off with a hair dryer & without cracking it. Adhesive removal was ridiculous. Can someone recommend a product that works? I'm thinking a 3M item... Goo Gone is a bust.

maybe a bug n' tar remover. but that might be bad for the clearcoat. or go talk to a auto detailing shop, i bet they would have something or would do it for you.
