First needed new battery, ok got care lot to purchase. next needed 2 back tires. Then it overheated code said it was hi speed fan relay ok fixed that now, I was on my way to see grandmother in hospital car died going down toll road. Would not restart.
Previousley it had died the same way but always started right away. Now it's been a week and still wont start turns over Error code says 0340, changed senser , still wont start. It trys to turn over but no luck. Also yesterday it backfired one time.
Anyone have any ideas, hubby said he will check, coil, timing, spark plugs and wires and timing chain.

Husband took a look, and we have question(s):

*Any tips on removing the steering wheel cover so he can take a look at what the problem is without screwing up the air bag and/or other stuff?

*Hubby can probably fix it, but we would like some general direction on how. He's worked on all our vehicles, but he's a little reluctant without some kind of diagram so he can see what he's getting into. Any suggestions?

*Is this a common problem? We live in the southwest, with summer temps consistently over 115 for weeks on end. Could heat have possibly weakened the arm at its base?

Really appreciate any advice. We bought it used three years ago because it was all we could afford at the time; and we (I) promptly fell in love with it. Unfortunately, I do a lot of highway driving and use the cruise A LOT!

Anyways, the car is approaching 55,500 miles and I am about to have the tranny flushed with the next oil change, this week. My problem is that I have a sound coming from the engine that sounds like a rattlesnake. The car doesn't do it at idle, only under acceleration, gentle or hard. When I had my oil changed last, the guys oiled my belt and the noise went away for approx 200 miles and came back. They also told me that my belt looked like brand new.

So, I set up an appointment w/my local Chrysler dealer. Well, after waiting an hour, they came back and told me that they would have to start taking things off the engine to diagnose the noise. I would have to set up another appointment. I have the 7yr/70k powertrain warranty and cannot afford to pay them to take the car apart just to tell me that it wasn't cover under warranty.

The car runs perfect but the noise is driving me crazy! Sorry for the long post but I need some help. im truly new to this forum but i couldn't resist joining as i JUST bought 2005 PT Cruiser Touring Edition. it's november in new jersey, but i hope to enjoy top down as soon as it gets above 60.

my googling has shown that PT Cruiser Touring Edition only comes as automatics; guess what? mine's manual (dealer & carfax & rear end of my car). it has non-turbo 2.4L L5 FI DOHC 16V (base?) and ABS (no available on base trim). what's happening? i guess my research might be wrong.

umm also now that i have a wonderful car, i would like to protect it :P so ive been lurking around ebay to find a car cover, seat covers, floor mats, and whatnot. a weird feeling about owning a convertible (first time :) is i dont know whether i should try to protect the top (fading over years?), especially over a rainy/snowy winter. also i couldn't find exactly whether car/seat covers made for 05-08 wagons are compatible with 05 convertible. i appreciate your suggestions; here are some affordable ones i found;

this has been like the first decent car since 2005 or so. thus im quite excited :) but as having it as a commuter and all, i would like to keep it reliable and all that good stuffs. im not an aggressive driver and especially would be a good drive just to get good MPG. is there anything i should do/look out for? (i.e. check up to make sure that a dealer has done all the checkups, they said they have done have been done, correctly - wow that's a long sentence) or am i over-worrying? hehe

Two of my tires need replacing. Currently I have 205/55/16.
Can I put 215/55/16 on instead?
Can I do two and two? (205's in front, 215's in the rear?

I am looking at Cooper Tires... Any rating on them?

I just signed up and have a strange problem with my 06 PT Touring with 86K miles. I've already had the typical front end rebuild done - lower control arms 20K ago (still fine), struts 20K ago, upper strut caps / bearing plates and sway bar links 2 weeks ago, and both right side motor mounts last month. All work performed at the dealer. The strange problem lies in a metal to metal clunk (sounds like lug nuts shaking in a coffee can) coming from the right front, when going over bumps. The dealer insists the entire front end is tight, but i think otherwise. I've had the inner fender liner out, the RS cowl cover and washer bottle out (checked for loose items under the cowl - nothing). Brakes are brand new - with rotors - no pad chatter. Even took the dash cover out and looked there - nothing moving around. I'm thinking it's a bad strut - but there are no signs of them being blown, and i was told they were fine when the bearing plates were done (thought the plates were the source of the noise). Am i possibly missing something here? Help would be appreciated.....thanks.
