The door ajar alarm started going off on my '05 cruizer, which has led to the after market car alarm going off for no reason at 2:00 a.m. zzzzzzz

Was checking the doors out, and my door does not feel like it is latching the same as the others, and there is almost no resistance when opening using the latch.

I had an after market alarm put on 3 years ago, and aside from a P.O.S. remote that eats batteries, it's been fine..

WD-40'd the locking mechanisim , but to no avail, it's still screwed up.

Anybody had the door not latching issue before? And figured out how to fix??

thanks-
I am putting in a Kenwood X993, and want to upgrade the front and rear door speakers. What size are the door speakers? When I measure across the door panel molded grill its about 5", but Im guessing by previous threads that the speakers might be 6.75? Should I replace the dash speakers? I wasnt planning on replacing the dash speakers unless it is absolutely necessary.

Also, are good speakers to go with, matched to this head unit?

Thank you very much for any help

Hello all. I'm new to these parts and I have a question. I just recently purchased an '02 LE (with the woody trim... pretty sweet!), but it did not come with a keyless entry remote. I went to my local dealer and they want an arm and a leg for OEM unit, which is money that I simply cannot spend. So I bought an aftermarket keyless setup that came with directions that might as well have been written in Greek. It's made by Alert and the model number is KE1702R. Can somebody help a newbie? Thank you for your time! :)

Okay, so looking in the forums I have seen a couple random posts about double din installs..

Long story short, I'm one who likes the new toys... Had a JVC HRD1 radio (with Ipod controller) which worked great with my Ipod 60gb I had... However went with an Iphone and the radio no longer functioned for me...

Got an Alpine 303 something... No CD player, bluetooth optional and all that... Didn't like it and decided to get a nicer set up period..

So Tomorrow morning (23 Oct 09) I get my JCV AVX820, double din, 7" LCD, AM/FM/CD/DVD/USB, Bluetooth, iphone compatable, blablabla (don't need GPS so didn't look for one with those options)...

Yes I have to cut the dash and am fully aware and capable of making it look close if not stock...

Picks tomorrow!

Any opinions, tips or hints welcome... Also might paint the console and the (currently silver) dash panels the cool vanilla like the outside

Hey everyone was really searching for ideas from you guys to modify my current shady looking setup...
Right now i have a 7" fold out dvd screen in the dash.
I have a 1200w (RMS) 4 channel Rockford fosgate Older Model amp That is Powering 2 sets of 6x9 Kicker coaxial speakers (I modified the speaker holes in the front doors so that 6x9" speakers would fit)
I have a MMATS d3500.05 1 Channel amp (~2700w rms) that powers 2x 15" power acoustik Mofo 15" subwoofers. (2500w rms)
I also have a yellow top optima battery and a 30 farad hybrid cap that is wired from the front battery to the second battery then to the cap. The wire is 0 guage and there is a 200a circuit breaker inbetween the 2 batteries.
Right now the new design that i have going is a 37.5"x19"x19" Box that will house these speakers with a Port of 4"x17.5"x12"(deep) Wich will tune the box to 38hz.
If I do this I would like to use a full plexiglass box wich will be 3/4" thick.
The issue i have from there is im running out of room to mount the Amplifiers the 2nd battery AND the cap... all in the rear hatch... I am open too ALL suggestions including box dimensions material ect... Right now the box i have is a wedge shape not a cube shape and inside the box is the 2nd battery and cap... the amps are mounted on the back side of the box itself...
If you have any suggestions please let me know
Thank You
PT Demon
If you want i can put up some pictures showing the current sub box and room issues...

Boston S35 3.5" dash speakers
2 12" JL W1V2 subs in a ported box
Rockford P200-1 pushing the door and dash speakers
Rockford P500-1 pushing the subs

Ok, so when I kill the subs and turn the volume up, the door and dash speakers sound great. However, when I add the subs at a moderate level, I get distortion from the dash and door speakers. I could take my car to a shop and pay who knows how much to get it fixed, but I thought that I would check on here first to see if anyone knew of a cheap fix to this problem. Thank you for any advice anyone may be able to provide.

I have just purchased a 2003 PT Cruiser and I am trying to code the stereo to work. I have the code (obtained using the serial number on the stereo). However it doesn't seem to work. I have contacted the seller who didn't have the code but seems to think that the wrong code was entered several times.

Would this brick the stereo?

Is there any way to reset the stereo to enable me to enter the code (eg removing the battery)?
Any help greatly appreciated!
I took it apart today cause I was thinking about painting it when I paint my dash. When I took it apart I relized if I did some cutting and major fiberglass work I might be able to fit a small flip down screen or even maybe making a flip down and making a braket to put in an ipod touch or even trying to fit a new psp go in. I was wondering if anyone has ever attempted anything like this or even anyone had any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks
