Default Search seems not set up correctly.

I will not search for anything surrounded in quotes " ". No matter what it will search each and every word returning 1000s of thread "results".

Why is it like that? The administrators of the site have asked us new guys to use search as much we can but I find it useless most of the time. Sorry...

I always search using one word instead of phrases or multiple words and I usually find what I am looking for.

Since joining this forum I have had difficulty with the search function as well. Maybe I am doing something wrong?

I'm sure you guys are highlighting the correct section in the box on the right. If you're looking for "Tokico" as an example, hold [ctrl] and click on "Wheels, Tires, Suspension" and "Turbo Wheels/Suspension/Handling"

As stated above, searching by single words yield better results. Of course choose the most appropriate variation of words.

Example:
Search "Tokico" "Tokicos"

Not just "struts" "shocks" "blues"

I believe it needs to have at least 4 letters.

That's be good if what I was looking for could be summed in in one word.

When I'm trying to search for things like "hard to start when cold", I get results for the word "to"!

to tell the truth, when the search doesn't show up anything or not what i wanted on the forum, I go to Google.

If for example you type in Google, "pt cruiser hard to start when cold" you will get a couple hundred answers and some of the top ones will be threads from this forum. Just use "pt cruiser" in front of whatever your looking for. Never let me down yet.

I can't answer your questions about the forum search. It was here when I joined long before i became the moderator.

That's exactly what I started to do shortly after joining. As you mentioned the top 'hits' are usually from this forum.
