Exclamation Windshield Wiper Arm/Motor Question

I have a base model 2002 PT Cruiser and I was sitting in it warming up to go to town, and I turned on the winsheild wipers to clear the window, the right arm worked correctly but the left arm went <-----left and really all the way off the windshield and kinda off the car, it was still connected and there is no sign of the arm being broken. It appears to be "stripped" kinda like a screw could be stripped. Any advice on where to start for repairs or what may be the problem? The left wiper will not even move now when the right one works properly! Thanks in advance for your help...

I wedged something in there on our beater van. A small piece of Emery cloth I believe, then cranked it tight

Pull the arm off of the splined shaft, turn on the wipers and see if the shaft is going back and forth.

Welcome to the forum

If you get lucky, maybe just the splines inside the wiper arm have stripped and the motor splines are still good, meaning much less $ and trouble to have to just replace a wiper arm and not have to replace the motor.

When you get a chance, please go to Welcome New PT Cruiser Members - PT Cruiser Forum and create an intro thread
