Default Hidden feature?

Hi again ya'll, [8]

I found this nifty lil' feature a couple of months back. Then later I saw an ad where you could buy a clip to keep your gas cap from touching your paint. Then I thought, hmmmmmm maybe not EVERYbody else knows it's there! (instead of just me, as usual!)

So here's another nifty feature of the PT. A gas cap holder built right into the cover.

Cruise on ya'll

That was one of the first things I looked for..LOL. I hate it when the cap rests on the car.

If you take the cap off and wrap the tether once around the hinge area counter-clockwise, the cap does not touch the body. You can put the cap back on with the tether wrapped around the hinge, so it will work every time.

It wasn't always there. I think the clip appeared in 2003. Our 2002 didn't have it and our 2003 had an aftermarket Chrome door when we bought it.

Here's another tip that has been posted in the past.

The gas cap has a 6" long lanyard attaching it to the filler area. From the straight down position, wrap it counter-clockwise under the flap and over the exposed hinge back to the inside. This will effectively shorten the lanyard and the cap will hang inside the hinge and not be able to touch the body. Do this when gasing up and reverse the procedure to close the flap.

I do it this way even though I have the little hanger tang.[8D]

The gas cap hook was one of the first penny mods most of us did back in the "old days" when there was nothing already there.
