Default begining to hate my cruiser....

I'm having some problems with my cruiser that no one can identify, If there is anyone out there that can help me I will be eternally greatful.

1st rough start- the smoothness of starting the cruiser isn't there anymore. almost everytime I start the car it happens, I have also experienced the car not starting on the first turn of the key.

2nd. squeeky breaks, I have had the brakes checked and rechecked and I get the same answer, your brakes are fine.

3rd. going under 25 mph the car rumbles.. no clue

4th. excellerating- sounds like I've been using a poor quality gas so I put that theory to the test and switch to a better grade gas and I still hear the sound especially going up hills.

5th whether the car is in park or I'm at a light or stop sign the car bucks like it wants to excellerate.

6th everytime I go over a bump it sound like the back hatch isn't closed completly although it is, I ever had the muffler checked to see if it was loose.

I have taken the cruiser to the dealer and I get the same answer we can't find anything wrong with the car I even brought a mechanic from the dealer with me on a long drive and they say I don't hear anything.

Thanks for any help provided.

Trish

CruzinAlong have you done a search here?
1st have you replaced plugs and ignition wires. Wires maybe beaking down. Many have done this because OEM wires are cheap
2nd If you have rear drum brakes I believe it's the quality of metal used, again OEM drums are cheap. Live with the squeal or replace them drums are like $75.00 per. My rears make noise but I'll wait till I need rear brakes then change them. Also pads may be glazing over.
3rd,4th & 5th no clue
6th Mine does this also I believe it's the exhasut pipe or muffler bouncing up and hitting the bumper or undercarriage.
Hope this helps. Hang in there the car is worth it!!!

I'd be willing to bet that if you changed your spark plugs and spark plug wires, that would take away several of your engine problems. Have you tried a bit of brake cleaner? That may take away the squeaking. Have you checked and made sure that the spare tire and jack are well secured? Also, have you made sure that your rear seats are secured the right way, and that nothing is under them that could create some sort of noise?

What year? How many miles? If it's 3 months old and has a 1000 miles on it, then defects would be the answer, If its a 2002, with 50,000 miles on it, Wires, spark plugs, throttle body cleaning, might need to be considered. If you keep taking it to a dealer, and he ISN'T solving the problem, take it to ANOTHER dealer.

Don't let poor service change your outlook on the car, change the quality of the service.

Good Luck!

Agree with the others. Plugs and wires are # 1 cause of grief. Suggest Champion platinum (for non-turbo) and Crane wires from RaceAndStreet.com.
That'll probably cure the engine grief.
As for brakes - can you tell if sound is from front or rear? If front, suggest Raybestos ceramic pads (RockAuto.com) and the best rotors that NAPA sells. You'll also have better brakes and no dust!
If it's the rears, and you have drums, suggest better drums - NAPA.
As to thunk from rear - back car up on ramps and look - check shock mounting points for bad rubber bushings, and all other connections for bad rubber bushings.
What year? How many miles?

My wires acted up before that, not major, but I was getting a "stumble" or "miss".

I had alot of the same engine problems that youre describing in my 03 with 28000 before i changed plugs and wires. i would start there! as for the breaks, im with the others that better rotors/disks and pads/boots will help alot. My rears have always squeeled right after i start for the day. it must be some corrosion or such. make sure that your spare tire is completely tightened that might be creating your clunking sound. or make sure that your jack kit in the right rear is secure too if its loose it might move around some.
FOr the rumble under 25, mine has done that too under "torq" conditions i hvae always just assumed it was either normal exhaust noise or small hole in the exhaust somewhere.
