I try to tell those who complain about car shows not to try dog shows. They would never last. In dog shows there is only one winner in each breed and only one male and one female can earn points towards their AKC Championship. Everyone else is a looser. BTW --- Bonnie (CH Vogue's Woebgon Bonnie Miss) was the number thirteen Basset Hound in the country in 2004 with me, not a professional, showing her just in local shows. Some of you may remember that Bonnie, our miracle Basset, was near death a couple years ago due to a bad reaction to an antibiotic. Today she's doing great and you'd never know to look at her or to see her romp and play that she ever had anything wrong with her. ![]()

Rocket, most shows are NOT judged by officials but the owners themselves. At these shows they are not as critical. I detail many cars for judged car shows and you really have to be prepared to get torn apart. They look for all original parts and work performed. They check all the small details overlooked by owner judged shows. It can be extremely competitive at a official show, and unless you have a 10 point car I would stay away from those. Many people here have found success in using my products (I can't get Crewzin to try them yet, maybe in time) But I can honestly say that 100% of the people that use them they are all satisfied. Detailing is not rocket science, but does requires some basic info, I teach auto detailing at the college level which is a first for a college to host such a class. If you want to know more on how to win a troghy (I brought one home today as a matter of fact) e mail me and I'll set you up. hit me on my web site here. www.perfectautofinish.com

Maybe where turbomangt is car owners don't look for "clean" cars. From my prospective and experience it's better to have a well detailed car than not. I've found that more shows, even PT Cruiser shows are being judged by outside judges. Personally I like that better than the voting by participants, especially when there are groups of people who know each other. Here in Southern California many shows have added one or more PT Cruiser classes.

I think that car shows with "outside" or "independent" judges tend to be more objective. [|)] However, the "bottom line" when going to any show or meet-N-greet event is to see some great cars, get new ideas for your ride, meet new people, and have FUN. [8D] [?] |

Hmmm... I think I'm gonna stick with cruise nights... and dog shows! I don't know enough about engines to know how to clean what, and I'm not quite sure I want to get in to removing wheels to clean behind them... lol!!
Besides, with it being my daily driver, its definately not perfect with some dings and scratches. Besides, Sunday night cruise is at Dunkin Donuts... ![]() Thanks for the help guys!

At the Bloomington Gold show (the largest Corvette show in the state) they had certified judges from all walks of the car industry. They walk around with Q tips and check to see if the cotton turns a shade dark, under the hood one guy had a 89 Corvette and the judge was checking ALL serial numbers on the components, and he had a HUGE book with him which listed all models of Corvettes along with matching numbers for that year/model. One guy lost points because he replaced his air cleaner cover with a 87 part and his was an 88. In owner shows, its NOTHIING like that. They walk around the cars look (don't touch at all) and vote. What Gary just described is a Concours d'Elegance type show. Sure, in shows like that everything has to be stock and correct for each vehicle. Very few car shows are judged at that level, especially those who allow PT Cruisers. If my Cruiser was judged on "stock" parts, I'd never win anything. lol
The types of car shows that rocketsigntist is interested in don't go to that extreme. Rocketsigntist, if you're interested in showing your PT Cruiser at some local shows, just try it out. As I said before, it's more about the people than winning. Go to meet some people and have fun looking at all the rides that others show.
