Default new wheels and tires

Ok gang, I thought I'd start here first. I want to put 18x8 wheels on my 04 base model. Will I have any problems doing this? Thanks in advance for your comments[^]

Make sure the bolt pattern (5X100mm) is right, get the right offset so they fit, and if the speedo is important, try to get a tire that is close to the same outer circumference. Have the shop hold the wheels up next to the car, and mount one bare to check looks and fit.
If you can get them, hub-centric wheels (the center hole is the same size as the raised part on the hub) are preferred over lug-centric wheels(the lugs locate and hold the wheel). They also make spacer rings for this, since most wheels have a bigger center hole than necessary. This is only if you plan on hard driving, or are particular about the last little thing.
18s usually end up with 35-series tires, and these can ride a bit rougher. They also have a lot less rubber between the curbs and potholes, and the wheels; your location may require a different driving style.
If you are a clean freak about your PT, get a good sealant on them ASAP. Makes cleaning later much easier.
Always get a "out the door" price to compare. and don't buy from ALEX.[:O]

Purple04 gave you pretty much everything. I want to add - consider the impact on performance - if you don't get light wheels, you'll actually have a slower car.
Can't stress enough the comment "They also have a lot less rubber between the curbs and potholes, and the wheels;"
I lost a wheel (and tire) to a pothole - cracked and dented the rim - and that was with stock 16" alloys!!
I believe drop forged wheels are stronger.
Good luck![?]

I don't know where you are getting them from, if it's a local
dealer. they should know what you need.As long as they know
what it's going on. they are supposed to be the experts.Check local tire shops. I save a lot of money when I bought my wheels and tires from the same shop.
