You're scaring me. My '05 GT with autostick has 2,000 miles. The other day it slipped into neutral for a second then back to drive while at a light. And, after city stop and go in drive, it seems to slip when you get on it. Glad I got all the warranty I could!

I miss serious transmissions. These coffee can size transmissions in our front wheel drive cars can't possibly take the abuse of the transmissions behind yesterday's V8's. I'm not saying most of us abuse them but these guys that are dragging their FWD cars are just asking for trouble. It only stands to reason. These things are just economy transportation. The Muncie "Rock Crusher", the old Borg Warner T-10, Turbo 400, Ford top loader and others, had to see duty on the track behind some serious HP. I think our little trannies need babied beyond belief to survive.

There are two vocations that import racers are going to help skyrocket:

1. Ear doctors due to their over loaded sound systems and buzzy exhuast.

2. Transmission repairmen.

I'm not implying anyone has abused their tranny on this post thread. I'm just saying I'm real skeptical of what these trannies are good for in stock form.

Kevin (Age 48) I think I'm getting old and crotchety.

Kevin:
I must agree with all of your post. I am 66 ans my draggin' days are long gone.

I still have farly good hearing and I just wanted a good reliable vehicle, which I have. A tranny going out is just part of living. I have had more things go wrong with my body than I have had in all of my vehicles.

No offence meant.

Same here. I've got a 2002 Limited Ed. w/auto and have never had a problem. Now watch, tomorrow the whole thing will probably blow up.

All's well that end's well, I suppose...! [:I]
Nic touch, RedGT, but I think I know where you can get some nice amber stock tailights to replace those knock offs!!!

JPMS GT I've been driving manuals since '82 and have never had tranny problems on any of the cars. But, it was easier to make it my fault and flame a mod on my car. [B)]

This is crazy. I've been looking at the deals available lately and thought about getting a turbo. I just checked Chrysler's site and tried to build a convert touring and a limited (with a turbo lite) without the auto. You can't do it!

Buying a manual doesn't mean you won't ever have a problem. I have an '03 GT and had a leak last fall and it turned out to be the tranny, they replaced it under warranty. It was shifting just fine. It was just leaking. I'm not hard on it at all. They just replaced it.This was at 22,900 miles. Go figure?
i noticed that my tranny was leaking. couldnt figure it out at first because of the pattern of the leak but it turned out to be a loose drain plug. crazy.[:I]

Got the car back today. The tech belives the pump went out& caused the whole thing to quit.

They replaced:Sealpkg; Pump; Converter Pkg; Carrier; (2) Fluid; 2 types of Sealer plus the oil; flushed and flow checked the cooler. In other words replaced everything from what I understand. All of this for my $100 deductable on the extended Warranty plus the use of a rental car.

So far, so good. My dealer Boniface-Hiers treated me royally.
