Default 4- Speed Automatic

Now i will ask the question,
Why did you buy the automatic transmission? My parents opted for a manual so i could learn to drive it...[8D] so they say. I have never driven the automatic version of the cruiser.

I know i asked why some of you bought 5-Speed. Just being fair, and i am also just plain curious......

Automatic is more convenient for some (including me) and you just kick back and cruise. I used to drive stick (and still do occassionaly) because it's fun [?]. However, with automatic, driving around the city, it's just like I said, convenient. You don't have to worry about shifting gears to pass, slowing down, etc, clutch. It becomes 2nd nature, but I still prefer the automatic for city and any long term driving. Just running around town for a short time I take the truck.

That's why I got my automatic [?]

Generally manuals are for the youngun's....when you get older the manual introduces too many things to do while driving. My last manual was in '68 (Camaro SS396).

Been driving manuals since '82. Wouldn't have it any other way. LOVE IT!!! It's fun, prefer the control. When we went to buy my GT they did not have a loaded manual Inferno Red GT on the lot so they searched the entire west coast for one for me (live in Chandler, AZ). They found one in Las Vegas. This was on a Sat. and on Monday Eve. I drove her home. I think that says it all. (How I feel about manuals)

I bought the PT because it had an automatic. I spend alot of time driving in city traffic. I've got a Miata for those times when I want to shift for myself. [8)]

Thanks for your replies, i do like my manual becaue i am young and like my DRIVING experence. However you all have your reasons for automatics. And yes sometimes the shifting part gets to be a pain, really bad in traffic.

Auto mainly for the wife's sake. We have two vehicles but seems to share one at a time, odd but I'm in the Navy so not home all the time and she's heavy footed on the gas, break, and clutch and I mean she'll drive with her foot resting on the clutch pedal and will not listen to any suggestions, advise, warnings, or examples of bad habbits, ie car repair, damage, or near misses [xx(] so hopeing auto will end up cheaper than replacing a clutch every 12 to 18 months. On that note have an automatic that just passed the 70k and bye bye second gear along with front bearings after just replacing the rotors 6,000 miles earlier so who knows, maybe I'm breaking even but getting that fixed and the cruiser is all mine.[?]
