I have no idea what event started this all up but my passenger side front brake makes a chirping noise almost like a bird (at first I thought it was a bird!) under light apllication of the brakes. Once I apply more pressure to stop it makes a scrubbing sound. I only have 20k miles on my car and I've never had any problems with the brakes before now. My car has been at the dealer 3 times in the past 2 weeks and when I picked it up today, they still didn't have it right. They thought it was the fact that my wheel was bent (that's another story) which didn't make sense to me but hey, I'm no mechanic. At least I got my warranty company to buy me two front GT wheels $1,200.
What is going on!?[:I] Has anyone else here experienced any thing like this with their PT? I need to give these mechanics some insight before I blow a gasket! |

I had a similar problem. It turned out to be the lousy factory rotors and pads. [:0] check them out.

I had both the right front and right rear pads worn down to the wear indicators with lot's of pad remaining on the left side. Dealer replaced the front and rear calipers on the right side, turned all the rotors and replaced the pads. I only had to pay for the pads.

Nope not me, although just had front pads replaced at 30,000 service. And yes, those GT rims are $600 a pop, had to replace one after hitting a curb trying to get away from a nut who wasn't going to stop and took a big chunk out of one of mine.

That sure sounds like a brake wear issue. I don't understand why the dealer service wouldn't find that to be the problem.
About those chrome, Turbo GT wheels, Bent one, got a quote from dealer for $600, I next went to a wheel repair place but my rim was not repairable. However, they offered to get me a new, stock rim for $250. Ya gotta watch those dealer parts guys! |

Yeah, if it was not for my tire/wheel warranty package that I purchased with the car. I would have went aftermarket for sure. I couldn't take it on the way to work this morning so I stopped in to the dealer unexpectedly and they finally took a hard look at the thing and figured that it was my hub assembly and bearings that needed to be replaced.
They did give me a rental so I didn't have to wait around, probably because they knew they muffed up the other 3 times. Thanks for all the advice. I sure am glad that's over. |
