Default Dash acting weird

OK this is a weird problem.

Thursday morning I was heading to work, and 10 minutes into the drive the dash ding sounded, the coolent light came on and temp read COLD. I pulled over, shut the engine down, checked to see if the radiator was warm, restarted and it was ok. The next day the dealership found nothing, not even a code. They thought maybe it "burped" an air pocket.

After I picked it, the dash ding sounded again and this time the brake light was on. I checked the e-brake and it was down. I shifted out of reverse (5 speed manual, 2005 basic) and the light went out.

On Saturday after work the light came on again several times, either when I shifted into a gear, or by pressing the brake pedal. It only dinged at me when I first shifted into reverse for the first time after work, otherwise the light just came on. Finally it came on after driving home on the highway and just stayed on, even while driving in town and shifting gears.

So far I have done nothing to my Cruiser, no modifications (yet).

A buddy at work thinks the serial data to the dash is getting noise. [:I]

Welcome, Nick.
Sounds like back to the dealer....
If the systems are all working properly, there should be a code with the light. Sounds like light's getting turned on erroneously.

Well, if it's on now. Go to the dealer tomorrow & get it checked....or AutoZone can do it for free, NOW

Start with the codes & work from there. If one thing is messed up it could cause mulitple codes.

I don't think the Mopar workers named my PT but she is red and was fresh off the truck when I test drove it (some plastic was still on it). If it starts to spew green vomit I'm calling an exorcist.

I'm going to schedule an appointment for Tuesday since I need my wheels all day Monday. I'll let you know what they find.

Alright it's been a while, but my "problem" was that the brake fluid was low. I'm not having any spots in the garage, so it must not be a leak.

Anyway she works fine now and I have installed air horns and will be doing a cruise control this weekend. [8)]

As the brake pads ware down, the fluid level will drop. How many miles on the PT? You may want to have the brakes checked, they may need replacing soon.
