Default after market parts

has anyone installed an after market tach? i need to know where to hook it up at!! and i dont want to mess anything up on my car!!

I haven't but you will need a tach driver to hook it up though, like one from MSD, part number 8913 i believe. it'll run you about $90 or so.

Nothing, just hook it up to the distributor!

What distributor, we don't have one, thats why you need a driver like the one from msd that allows you to hook up the tach. [8]

Hey Ice Man, gotcha!
Sometimes it's easier to point out what is necessary (and let people figure out it's NOT there) than to just say NO and have a long discussion about why it won't work.
For those that didn't get it, the PCM uses crank and cam sensors to determine when to fire a pair of coils. It also reports on the data line to the instrument cluster what the RPM is. There is no TACH signal or wire per se to connect an aftermarket tach. The cam sensor output would be the closest, but it's 5 volt signal isn't what the tach could use anyway. That's why a driver is needed. Here is one description.
