Hi Guys, some one broke my mirror drivers side today. They were good enough to report it to me. I was amazinly calm about it, and keep my cool, he did feel bad about it, And said he would pay me back for cost to fix it. My question is, can the swivel part be replace or do you have to get the whole mirro. The lens isn't broke, he hit it and it snaped back so I could put it on and the inside controls work, but you can lift it off the arm. It's a round swivel kind of thing that broke. I really don't like the GM at the dealership here, so I'ld like to just get the part and do it myself is it a big job? All help is appericated? Thanks [B)]

I know there are replacement mirrors, but you say the glass is okay?
Hard to picture what is broken - something you think epoxy could cure?

I think they are referring to the plastic chamber that allows the mirror to fold in and stay on the bracket. in otherwords, i think they can actually take the mirror and fold it towards the front of the car and take it off of the bracket since the plastic swivel piece is broken. If they epoxy it, then it would no longer be a fold away mirror. [V]

It would be much cheaper to expoxy then replace. Your choice.

I believe that Chrysler only sells the whole mirror assembly, not individual parts. My last "car" was a Dodge Ram and the horn button broke. Dealer parts told me that I would have to buy the entire steering wheel.
The good news is, you could have the broken one out and the new one in less than an hour later. I think that the "swing-away" mirror was only on the first year or two Cruisers. Later years have ridged ones so maybe you could get by with the epoxy fix. |

Thanks guys for the input. I always check here first for answers great source of info and experiance. I figured since the guy said he'd pay for it, I just went down to dealer today they said it's a whole assembly thing,$168.00 part. I changed it out myself, it was a pertty easy fix. All's well again with the PT. Thanks again.[8D]
