Default Extended Warrenty

My warrenty expired last month, but now I got in the mail from Chrylser a special form with a code on it which told me if I repsond within 7 days, I can extent my warrenty. They don't say how much though, I have to call and see. anyone else get this? and know what it costs. I wonder if this would be a good investment. The other thing is with all the mods I have, even if I buy into it and something goes wrong, chances are they won't honor it anyway. Feedback? Gary

Chyslers as they age tend to fall apart, past ones anyway. They gave you a number to call, call it!! Get the details. Have them fax you the contract and check it out. Thats the only way you'll know what you're getting.

As do Ford, GM and any other American made car (IMHO)

I have purchased extended warranties on the last 4 vehicles I had. They have saved me many $'s. IMHO I personnaly recommed them.

I called today, its an independant company giving it to you NOT Chrysler. I have 44,000 miles to extent it to 100,000 or 6 years they want $2,795. I don't think so. Besides I asked about my S1 and he said that could it hard to make claim, it would be up to the dealer.Gary

Everything I hear about nonmanufacturer warranties is bad. I got Chrysler extended...to 85,000 miles. Figured with the turbo and autostick, I'd need it. The dealer finance guy chuckled, said I would for sure..!
Through my GEICO insurance I got a additonal warranty for 100,000, supposed to cover virtually everything, supposedly even if we do something stupid like pour coffee into our cd player. It's only $5 a month more, but not available on used cars.
Now I know it seems like I'm over insured, but hey, I've used them on other cars. My GM extended on my 99 Malibu paid for itself and more. When I traded in my Tundra, the refund(on the warranty) was about 80% of the origional cost. I get the tire coverage through Discount Tire, zero glass deductible and the max for uninsured motorist(a very wise thing in this part of the country). I wonder if you went to a dealer if they could swing a deal on a genuine Chrysler extended plan?

I went to the dealer that sold my daughter her Neon in 1997 when she bought a demo. They sold her an non Chryslker warrantee for about $1600. It was good for 7 year 100,000 mile less whatever the car's mileage was when she bought her car as it was a demo. Her engine blew when a bearing went bad after 50,000 miles and they replaced the engine for about $750. They said they could do it for the $100 deductible but no Chrysler long black would be available for about 3 to 4 weeks and they offered no rental car. She wound up with a non Chryusler short block originally waranteed for 90 days and to boot she needed some little work a few months later and they said she used up her coverage and refused to cover the tiny $300 repair. I had to clear it up for her and she got her coverage reinstated and they did cover the repair work for the rest of the extended warantee time, but it was a hassle. I learned my lesson only Chrysler warantees for me.

I bought the extended warranty from Chrysler on my wife's T&C - the damn thing scares me - DVD player, dual digital temperature control, power doors - all expensive stuff if it breaks, and I'm not modding the mini-van!

Having worked in a DC dealership and seeing customers who bought other warrentys than DC warrenty's raise HELL when they found out that they had to pay for the work and try and ger reimbursed from the company that held the warrenty made me a believer in the auto company's warrenty.

Why do you think the "off-brand" warranties are less $$' [xx(]. I have gone to Google and checked DE dealers who offer them and got a DC earranty for much less than the dealer here quoted me. The last two were from Kevin Wittrock, Carroll IA Very good to do business with
