I like it and was very seriously considering buying one, but good sense prevailed and I got a gas-guzzling, totally impractical GT convertible. And lovin' every minute of it.

I saw one quickly as it drove by.

My first impression was that I hated the front grille. The chrome is too bulky (clunky looking).

I like the plastic liner in the cargo space though. Unlike some folks who pamper their baby, I actually use mine to lug stuff around and the carpet is tough to keep clean. Then again, I suppose the plastic might get scraped up too.

I also liked the inset tachometer over the speedometer.

I don't care for the exterior styling though. Not as sexy or agressive as the PT.

The designer who designed the PT jumped ship to GM and designed the HHR for GM so I have heard on this panel. So much for trying to copy a extreamly FANTASTIC car the PT!!!![^]

Despite the HHR being ugly (my opinion) I am already seeing a lot of them on the road.

GM seems to have just released a plethora of uninspiring cars.

Buick LaCrosse
SSR
HHR
GTO
Pontiac G6
Pontiac Grand Prix
Their new mini-van (Chevrolet, Pontiac, Saturn)
Cobalt
Aveo
Malibu
Impala (I thought the last model was plain and ugly)
Monte Carlo

Do any of you find these cars appealing? Do you HAVE to have one in the garage? Not me.

The GTO is great under the hood, but so plain otherwise.

And where's the hybrid technology? Should be asking Chrysler the same thing. Can you imagine how well a hybrid Cruiser would sell?

I thought Bob Lutz would save them, but GM is drowning.......again.

It's a matter of time before GM is no more.

Gosh darn, we agree on something....... i didn't think it possible. They could sell hybrid cruizers like crazy.... And ya know, only the car companys who dont have employee discounts going are honda and toyota... the two major makers of hybrid cars.......

i have to disagree on some of that, The new Impalas and Monte carlos are coming with an LTZ option with a superchargered engine and the SS is getting a V8, The Grand Prix also comes with a Superchargged option or a V8 in the GXP model along with the Bonneville GXP. The 05 and 06 GTOs are getitng better styling wise. The G6 will have aocnvertable with a 6 speed 240hp ( i belive might be off by a couple) engine in the GTP model. And you can forget that they have also developed the DOD system for their V8's which is almost like hybrid power, just not as sissy sounding. I'll give ya the aveo, mini vans, lacrosse and the base G6 as missing the boat. But i think GM is making strides. As for the HHR Who knows i perosnally dont mind it but i wouldn't buy one. and not to sound like i am bashing chrysler i was just extending some of the knowledge that i know to add another persepctive to you statement

The problem is the GM V8 they are using is only 303hp. We are in an era when Chrysler's V8 is cranking 340hp and now 425hp. And have you seen the new Impala, it looks like an Accord. This is the last year for the Bonneville too.

The GM 240hp V6 needs a supercharger to get those hp ratings. Most companies standard V6 are reaching 240 or more.

i do think the new impala looks weird, but i was just pointing out good points GM is trying to do, and they have a 3.9L 240 N/A engine, they just seem to be a little behind on somethings indeed but its not all bad.

I'd rather have a 240HP supercharged engine than a naturally aspirated one! It doesn't take much to increase the boost on a supercharged or turbocarged vehicles.

I think the Pontiac Solstice is a great design. It's not what I would want, but they really raised the bar on that one. If they release the Nomad concept (based on the same REAR WHEEL DRIVE platform) I'd be trying to persuade my wife into buying one. The Corvette is fantastic in my opinion.

GM has been producing some boring cars of late, but I think they are getting the message. It's just going to take them a long time to get some good ideas into sheetmetal. Hopefully not too long.
