Turning up the heat when the engine's cold won't help a bit. However, I could turn on the AC once conditions are right if they had left it up to me.

Overall I guess Cruisers are not so bad because most of the concerns are not about reliability or quality. Comestics and economy dominate.

Try using the mix setting feet and window or where it doesn't allow you to turn it to recirc. I can't stand it either it robs power and you know the car doesn't have any anyway!!

so just floor it and you'll have power. also the ac compressor should only fire up in defrost mode when ambient temps are 'warm enough' that humidity in the incoming air is a problem. There is a hack out there where by clipping a conductor path on the hvac control panel you can keep the AC from running in defrost mode unless you purposely set the fan to the 'ac' side.

The A/C on when in defrost mode will clear your foggy windows many times as fast. Period! It's for safety reasons. Blowing humid air on a cold windshield will add more condensation. It takes a while for the heat to build to clear frost on the out side but condensation on the inside will begin to clear instantly. Suck it up, a little cold air won't kill you but not being able to see clearly, will.
I also don't buy the argument about extra gas or hourse power loss. If you can't see, you don't need any extra horse power. And how much do you use the defroster in a year? A few hours? I'll personally mail you the extra 12 cents if I can help you be safe and arrive alive. |

Hey 2Step, do you want my PayPal ID to send me the 12 cents?
Just kidding LOL. That's interesting what Fritz said about the AC not comming on when the ambient temps are warm enough. It doesn't seem that way, but maybe that's just because the air is already cold. If that's true, then I withdraw my complaint about the defroster. Either way I still LOVE my PT GT. I've had it 1.5 years, and I still say "oh boy" under my breath whenever I walk up to it and/or turn the ignition. Joe Quote:
