That does seem high! I believe the belt has it's own self adjusting mechanism, and therefore does not need to be adjusted at all. The rest could be done by any other auto shop other than a dealership.

The alternator belt is the only one that needs to be adjusted. The belt for the power steering and A/C compressor are on the self-adjuster.

My mechanic hadndled my 30,000 mile service like this: Engine oil and filter change $43 (Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 filter) Transmission service $120 (drain fluid, new filter, and Chrysler +4 fluid) Spark Plugs and Wires $146 (MOPAR wires and NGK Iridium plugs) Rotate tires, Check fluids and clean battery and check exhaust and brakes and suspension included in oil change cost. Total cost for check was $309 including tax. 3300 miles later my thermostat gave up the ghost and that cost me $117 even though parts only cost me $16. Should have included that in my 30,000 mile check and might have gotten a better deal for the package. Mechanic says that he can do an inclusive 30,000 mile check up for around $170 but it includes rather generic parts and fluids.

[8D] I just had my $30 K checkup. I truely think its up to each SERVICE WRITER? I paid close to $500! I did have my trans fluid changed with the filter(basic change not full flush) I also had front barkes & rotors turned(1st time #2k) actual miles)I had injectors serviced also. They also changed to contro arms front (WARRANTY) were squeaking) & tried to hose me for $70 to lube sway bushings! I got that back with a fight! All in all car is fine. I really think dealers try to get you if they can. The mechanic just does what he thinks is right but its the writer who you have to watch! I also had oil changed with filter. i did speak with maechanic & he truely is honest & ok... not so sure on the writer though! The mechanic said to change plugs next time or at inspection,,, curious other cars go 110k without changing plugs whats up here? Are we being taken? Thanks for sugestions & I hope this helped the post! MJB [8)]

Should have gotten the full flush. Anyway, the reason that other cars go 100,000 is that they use platinum plugs. If you have an NA cruiser, then replace your current plugs with a good platinum plug, and some nice wires, and be happy. If you have boost, DO NOT use platinum.
Here's a little article with some info on the "100,000 mile tuneup"
