Welcome, Bill.
I ordered both my '02 and '05 PTs. My dealer offered a very good deal on a "leftover" '04 GT - but it was made about a year earlier, and I thought of all the startups and moves of 5 or 10 feet it must've gone thru in that year...
Definitely get the turbo lite - when you pass someone it's worth it. I'm getting even better mileage on my turbo than I got on my '02 without a turbo - but I am driving a bit easier with gas prices up...
I'm at about 25 MPG overall.
Even if you're ordering - hold out for a good deal - they're begging you to buy a car.... I paid a bit less for my '05 than I did for my '02 with the same options, but got the turbo Lite as a bonus!
This is true. I got my 06' Touring for what I paid for my 04' base.

Hi all -
Thanks for all the suggestions and info. We're trying to look at all the possibilities. I have driven an 2002 and had plenty of room at 6'4". But I'll try out the '06 as mentioned.

We're now also considering an 2003-05 used PT. The more I look at them, the more I like the look of the older models over the '06. Any major things to watch out for on older PT's? Thanks again.

---Bill

hi bill, i think every pt has had alittle something, nothing major across the board though, if you find a certain year, turbo, non turbo, then we could narrow down any issues with that certain year [8)]

The 06 is WAY easier to work on the engine, new plugs and wires in in under a half hour, no more BS removing and trying to re-allign that stupid plug and collet in the back

We are looking at buying a new PT. I usually prefer to order a car exactly like I want, but if we could find a good enough deal on something close we may go that way, so an '05 is a possibility.

I'm leaning towards a Limited Turbo for the extra power, but haven't found anyone around with one to test drive and compare against the base engine. Any comments on this engine? The GT is out of our price range.

Any other comments/suggestions on 05 vs 06, or anything else relevant would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

you are probably sitting to close to the wheel if you're hitting , iehter that or 75% of your height is in your legs

[brHaving owned an 04' before my 06' I think the new interior is much better than the old one. I think it looks more upscale. Also, I like the "hidious lip" as you say on the back. I myself don't like flames on the side of the PT. To each their own. Good luck with whatever you buy.
Slim, I'm really glad you like your new car, but it would have been pretty stupid to buy it if you didn't, wouldn't it? I'm also glad that you like the "hidious lip" too, I've run into a couple of 06 owners that are wondering if they can replace it with a "regular" spoiler from previous years.

If you are tall, (the "Big" in your signature?)how do you keep that console from rubbing your ankle?

harrisonmml (or should I call you shorty?):

Jeez, at 6'3", I never would have figured out how to move a car seat back! Thanks for that advise! Let me give you a little clue, people my height, usually put the seat ALL the way back to start with, then we see if we can get comfortable. As to pulling a seat forward at all, for any reason, that is very rare. If I'm "sitting too close to the wheel" it's only because Chrysler won't let me put it back any further. After driving the 06 PT rental around for a week, you can be assured that there is NO WAY I can drive that thing without that console being up against my ankle. Seat ALL the way back, steering wheel ALL the way up, and even the seat-back reclined a couple of notches (doesn't do a thing for your leg positions) Nope, not enough room to drive comfortably. Of course, it's not just the new console, the newly-designed seat feels a lot more restrictive and "closer to the wheel".

My height is normally proportioned throughout my body. In my 47 years on this earth, I don't think I've seen anyone that has 75% of their height in their legs. Have you?

If over 50,000 miles, auto trans should be flushe & refilled with ATF + 4 to prolong life.
Plugs, wires, brakes & tires.
Nothing major.
Suggest having a mechanic test drive & look it over.[?]
