They also make tons of money whenever you visit their service department.

But a lot of times the dealer has already done this stuff and it is added to your sticker price...They find any way to make more money off the car...also some dealers will add a advertisement fee to cover there costs to have ads in the paper and on tv.....

Another thing to watch out for is the reimbursement. Check the fine print. It's the same thing as rebates and any other 'managed' account. Money out of your pocket, then jump through hoops to get paid back. they count on a percentage of money owed not paid back, due to the hassle.

If you look on-line, you can find a better extended bumper-to-bumper warranty at a much better price than what the dealership can offer.
No, don't buy any warranty for your Chrysler that doesn't come from Daimler Chrysler Service Contracts!
I would like to put in my $.02 here.

Almost 2 years ago, before the manufacturer's 3/36 warranty expired on my 2001 Ltd, I bought a zero-deductible extended warranty from WarrantyGold (my vehicle is before the 7/70 coverage on the powertrain became available). At the time, they were the highest rated 3rd party auto warranty provider around. It wasn't but a few months later that I got the news that they were filing bankruptcy. I have a claim filed, and am waiting for the refund, but the case is taking forever to resolve in the Texas courts. I've spoken with the lawyers involved and they are confident I will get some settlement, but don't know how much.

This should have never happened, but it did. So my advice - and the advice of others - is to go with an extended warranty from the manufacturer, i.e. Daimler Chrysler, because they will be around to honor the warranty.

When I get my refund (who knows when that will be?), I will consider using it to get an extended warranty from DM.

Check online for a Chrysler Warranty, I got mine from Whittrock Motor Co. Carroll IA 51401. 712 792.3607; e mail Kevin@wittrockmotors.com

This the 2nd warrenty I have gotten from Kevin, IMHO it was the best price I found. My dealer wanted 600.00 for the same thing.

I'm in that same boat, with comPuTer... Just before the warranty on my 2001 Cruiser expired, I laid out $1200.00, for an extended warranty from Warranty Gold... Approx. 2 Months later, I found out it was Worthless......
If you must purchase an extended warranty, absolutly go with Chrysler's plan!!!!
Do not repeat our mistakes....
I must say.... I did learn a very valuable lesson... [xx(]

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that they usually do not cover diagnosis. So if you buy a Chrysler extended warranty and you car breaks down, Chrysler dealers can still charge you to diagnose what the problem is.

For that reason alone, don't buy it!
Let's stop spreading misinformation here....if it's a covered repair, the diagnostic is included. If it is NOT a covered repair, then no, the diag is not included. But you can't expect any warranty company to say "yeah, we'll cover any diagnostic work you have done, ever" because all it would take is a few nutty people who take their car to the dealership every time they go over a hard bump to have it diagnosed for free "just to make sure nothing is wrong"

I do hope you have already filed a claim for your policy. Since the bankruptcy was declared, I've had several conversations (via email) with the primary legal rep for the case. He told me that there was a good chance that I will get something back. I've already racked this one up to experience (ouch!) but it would be nice to get a little something in mail sometime soon.

I believe it is too late to file an individual claim now, but it's possible you could be part of the class action suit against them. Go to http://www.warrantynews.com/ for info.

Some dealers will waive the diagnosis fee, but most will not. The amount of the diagnosis fee is entirely left up to each dealer, so you have to call around and compare prices before you get it diagnosed.

They only admit that diagnosis is covered after they do the diagnosis, and they only do the diagnosis after you agree to pay the diagnosis fee.
