Default Dealership & Tranny Cooler problem

My fiancee's PT was taken to the dealership under extended warranty to replace an automatic transmission that had gone bad. When she picked it up she made it about 5 miles before it over heated and dumped a lot of coolant.
She picked it up saturday and they told her Monday they will check to see if it related the transmission replacement.
I am wondering if the Tranny cooler is integrated into radiator and/or requires purging after an auto tranny install. Common sense tells me it is related.
I need advise to what the dealership needs to do to make it right. I turned the engine over and it didn't sound like she roasted it. (She has no clue to severity of the over-heat).
I am thinking as a precaution they need to replace valve cover gasket, and the thermostat. What do you guys think?

The cooler that's located under the car at the base of the firewall is NOT a tranny cooler, it's for the power steering. I don't believe the PT has a tranny cooler, although with the troubles that the transaxle is giving people, maybe a cooler would help. For your PT to overheat so fast after your service, it almost has to be something they did at the shop. Replacing the transaxle is pretty involved and loads of things have to be taken off or moved to do it. Good Luck.

Do you know the year and model PT?

Is it a Daimler Chrysler "Service Contracts" brand extened warranty?

Is the dealer a 5 Star Chrysler daeler?

Has anybody else worked on the transmission before?

Dunno until the cause is determined. Thermostat would be most lilkely.
I think you meant head gasket, not valve cover gasket - doubt they'd spring for that....
Disagree w/Crewzin - quite sure the PT has both - an auto trans cooler, AND a power steering cooler. The power steering cooler is much smaller.

[xx(] Your right Don. There is a Transaxle Oil Cooler tucked away under the car. The Turbo models have there's in front of the radiator.
