Default thanks folks, now the brake question

I have to thank all those folks that have replied to this newbies questions...

My 2001PT has 40K miles, and starting to develop squeak just before when I come to a complete stop. I assume the brake pads are wearing down... Any suggestions or recommendations will be appreciated.

I guess first you have to find out if you've worn the rotors past the point of re-surfacing them. Most of the auto stores carry both pads and rotors for the PT. NAPA is mentioned pretty much and appearently they sell different grades of both rotors and pads. If you want to get rid of the brake dust, go for ceramic pads. If your PT is just used for normal everyday driving, the lower priced rotors should be OK for you.

Has the brake light ever come on? Usually that happens before you need pads - when the pads wear a bit, the light comes on when you take off from a stop - the brake fluid drops from pad wear, when you give it gas it exposes the low fluid sensora as fluid sloshes - but at 40,000 you're probably ready for at least pads.
NAPA has 3 grades of pads and 2 grades of rotors - the top pads are ceramic, work great, really last and give NO DUST.
