Went down town yesterday.I did something I never do .I parked
in a parking lot by other cars.Anyway Now I have a nice 2 inch scar in my front fender.when I came out there was no car or truck by me and I seen this scar right away. That's what I get. Live and learn. |

The first one is always the worst. Back in the 70s I spent some time working in the 'automotive recycling industry' (back then we called it 'Junk Cars') My job was stripping the valuable bits out....relatively new parts, tires, and anything (like copper radiators) that could be sold for more than its weight as 'mixed light-steel', and anything interesting or saleable in the trunk, glovebox, etc. This process sometimes required some barbaric butchery by using big blunt objects like a big crowbar and a sledgehammer as a substitute for 'keys' or 'working hood releases'. Often while committing these atrocities, I would reflect that once upon a time this grimey, smelly, corroded hulk was somebodys Brand Spanking New Pride and Joy. Eventually I realized that I was just helping the poor thing go home to the steel mill, where it would soon be reborn as a new car (or maybe some other useful thing, but it was steel, and steel believes in reincarnation.) So enjoy the first dent.... and don't dwell on the fact that your car, my car, almost every car has an appointment with a blast furnace some day.

Bob, just tell her that you need the excercise by parking so far away.

That's me. I'm the one farthest out in the parking lot, at the highest point (to avoid rolling shopping carts). And for the most part it works. But, sometimes you just can't avoid parking next to someone. And that's when it happens! So, I've got my favorite DENT REMOVAL Guy. My GT turns 3 years old tomorrow and I've had to use him I think 4 times. But, you'd never know anything happened. He's very good. My car hasn't a mark on it. You do your best. But, there will always be the thoughtless, the ones that just don't get it and just don't care about anyone else.

I have sympathy for you.
A similar thing happened to me last August, just 2 weeks after buying not only my new PT but my first brand new car. My family and I were on our way to Wildwood NJ for vacation when we decided to stop at a local McDonalds for lunch when we came out there was a nice sized dent on my front drivers fender and of course nobody saw a thing. So before I even got to make my first payment I had to spend $800 at a body shop to have it repaired. |
