Hi everyone,
Could someone briefly explain what is involved for replacing the stock plastic antenna bezel with a chrome one? Special tools needed? Special access required? |

I had to carefully snad mine to get it to fit the contours of the fender like a stock one. Still only about a 20 minute job though.
Very easy upgrade |

Like John said; put masking tape around the whle area so in case you slip you might save yourself from a scratch or two. I used a very small screwdriver, put it into the recess of the retaining nut and "gently" tapped on the driver so the nut unscrewed conter-clockwise. Once it starts moving, you can do the rest by hand. One other thing, I think the antenna holder can drop out of site into the hole if your not careful, so don't let it drop.

I did the same as you Crewzin. I took a small screwdriver and tapped it with a hammer.

I just did mine. First take off the antenna. cover your fender area with a fender guard or use masking tape. Just in case you you slip and fudge it. I dont see this happening though. anyway. Get some needle nose pliers like everyone else said. make sure you got some electrical tape on them so you wont scratch your bezel or screw up your nut. Loosen the nut with the pliers using the three groves on your nut. Then reinstall you antenna. Now unscrew the nut by hand and slip it over the antenna. now take the bezel and slip it over the antenna. Do not worry about the inner piece falling in or to the side. You have your antenna to keep it in place. Now slip the New chrome bezel and nut over the antenna and position it all together and hand screw it in. After you got it in place and hand tight take of the antenna and use your pliers to tighten it up. Be very gentel it does not take alot of pressure to break it loose or tighten it. [^] Now enjoy.
I hope I did not afend anybody by breaking it down like this. I just want to help out those who have no idea on how to do it.

I did mine just after Christmas, guess what Santa left me. I used a small screwdriver and just gently tapped the ring loose. So soft a tap that it took a bit to get the ring started to turn.
Leave the antenna on though as it will hold the rest in place and prevent it from falling into the fender. Put is all back together the same way and gentle taps to secure it in place. I was surprised how much it changes the look of the front end. Of course soon after followed chrome port holes and windshield washer covers. All three make for a great detail and look.
