I'm not crazy about the visual changes made to the 06s, I would prefer the original to be improved not just a facelift. How about about beefing up the t41e instead of putting a weaker one in the na, 30 mpg would be nice, GM can do it in the HHR, how about offering up the turbo diesel with a 5 speed & I'd like that in a panel please. End rant.

I like the '06 - the bumpers are better integrated, and I like the squared off bottom intake.
What I don't like is the passenger handle - not the fact that there's a handle, but that it's so square - should be like the handle in the roof on earlier PTs - a smooth arc.

Since I own a 2001 and a 2006, I'll add my 2 cents into the mix. I have a hard time when trying to figure out wich one I like best. My 01 has a softer feel inside. When you put your head back on the headrest, the 01 just feels much better. The 06 with the open design looks better, its not nearly as soft. Also the material they put into the 06 just doesn't feel as cushy as the 01. The 01 has more of a luxury feel to it, while the 06 is more sporty/supportive. The seats in the 06 also sit up higher than the 01. When I first saw pictures of the 06 interior, I was totally turned off by it. After sitting in one when they first came out, I changed my tune. After driving one for almost 5000 miles, I like the look of the 06 inside better. Well, not the towell rack, hated it from day one, still hate it just as much today. Also didn't like the clock when first taking delivery of the 06. Now, on the rare occasions I drive the 01, I always find myself looking for the clock on the center of the dash. They also improved the sound system in the 06. The speakers in the back doors make such a difference.

The outside I lean towards the 06 as well. I like all the changes done to the outside. The only reason that I lean towards the 06 in this area, is the 01 has the black bumpers, and of course, the dreaded tape marks. All in all, I think they made a nice subtle change to our beloved PT. I am just a little nervous about the 08 redesign. There are some things that I would like to take from the 01 and the 06 to combine them into the ultimate PT.

Ok, so maybe that was 4 cents worth. Keep the change.[^]

I personally like the 06 styling much better. On previous models the bumpers look like they were just stuck on as an afterthought.

I think the original was genius, and the 06 is just a business decision that at some point they had to do something different.

At first I didn't like the 06 but the more I look at it the more I like it.

Really,
To me i like the OLDER styple better, but i would buy either, it still has the pt cruisers style that stands out from the rest of the croud. I LOVE all the people who come up to me in the parking lot or pointing at the car on the side of the road or the people who stare at the stoplight. Really, the pt STILL stands out from the rest!

I went on a business trip last week and rented two cars. I got a 2006 HHR and a 2006 PT Crusier Limited. The inside gauges looks exactly alike. The PT had the "towel rod" and analog clock in the center but other then that they were the same.

Honestly, the HHR handled better in heavy traffic. It was lower and more stable. I liked the PT for overall driving. It felt like home (I own a 2003 woody)and I know how to drive this sort of car.

I had two people ask me if the HHR was the "new crusier". I loved that!!

Thanks,
Jeremy Bays
