For a second I thought you were talking about a Chevrolet. But seriously...

Those people in 20 year old cars passing you on the highway are doing so because they TAKE CARE OF THEIR VEHICLE. You should have had it checked the first time it overheated. What's done is done though, hopefully lesson learned.

You are in deed in a small minority as far as all the problems you had. The proof is in the pudding, check out consumer reports and they'll tell you a used car "best bet" is a PT Cruiser, any year model.

well I did check it overheated the 1st time around. There is NO excuse for a f5 or 6 year old car to blow that gasket. Accepting that is ridiculous. For those of you that haven't had that part fail on you and still think this PT is so Great on reliability good luck. For those of you whom have own other brand and have this happen to you you will totally know how I feel right now.

stop fooling your self. You guy call a blown gasket that you have heard it from PT cruiser owners OVER and OVER again is a minority PLEASE. even the guys at the shop said they know about this problem the thee cars are KNOWN to have this problem.

saying this is OK is like saying O! my son only had a blown vein in his heart it's a small problem[:I]. Also if its not happening to you does not mean it's not happening to alot of other people. If I bring up the overheating problem and no one know the cause than it's a minority but when 3 out of 6 people say it's a head gasket or worst than it's a majority. It's the acceptance of low standard that people have for domestic cars that cause the laziness of U.S. car industry....everytime they can't sell us crap they try to get us to be patriotic and fool us into buying crap. No more

Ctown, I seriously hope the English isn't your first language, and that you're taking classes to better it. I'm not a perfect typer or speller, but jeez, I have to read your post over and over and still don't understand it.

I have a 23yo Jeep that lived a hard life. Within a week of owning it over heated. I PARKED THE VEHICLE, opened the hood, then got to work. Turned out the water pump was shot. When something serious like that happens you need to stop driving it, no matter if it seems fine or not, and with newer cars (and the lack of knowledge on newer cars your average person has) you should of taken it to a mechanic. People today just don't take care of their car. They except to buy the thing, then have it last 200,000miles without expecting anything to go wrong, or spend money on repairs.

Sounds to me like you had a problem with it overheating before, and through ignorance (not calling you stupid, just ignorant) kept driving the vehicle even when you noticed a noise and lack of power.... ok, maybe you were stupid. However, I could be wrong because I can barely make any sense of your post any ways, and if I am then I apologize.

is this a english forum? sorry I never spell or grammer check anything I'm an architect I can't really write

like I said

I got the car checked after it got overheated. Honestly you won't be able to see anything from opening the hood or even like lifting up the car.

It gave me NO warning what so ever. look the chrysler head gasket shouldn't fail SO soon.

heres the update on the car. the car has no compression and need a engine replacement...o well the price is around $2200.... and I still love you Konkeler

Are you the original owner? If not, then it could have been the previous owner who drove the hell out of it and didn't take care of it.

I drive mine like a SOB and haven't had a problem, yet. But I take care of it, use good gasoline, synthetic oil, and have all maintenance done on time.

I agree.... No need to freak out...

We havent had our cruiser that long so i cant really judge it's reliablity. It only has 13,700 miles.

I have always worried about my honda, if it will have a head gasket problem, i wont be able to have it fixed. (why i need a job)

Dang Ctown you do have the worst of mechanical luck judging from your past posts here. I feel fortunate to have never had a single problem in going on Six years.
