no I'm not the 1st owner I have the car for 30K miles already
sorry about bashing the PT but I have alot of problem with this car and all the problem I had was also been posted on forums over and over by alot of owners. Now they're swapping the engine out for another one. I was wondering if I can drop in a turbo engine in there.

It was probably the first owner who screwed you over, I have no doubt they mistreated the car. Especially with all the problems you've had with it.

Ctown, I think you're right about the gasket problem.
Back in 2003 I bought a new PT and since then I met three more people who have the car (all different years). When my gasket failed last week I found out that two of the other three people actually had the same problem! My jaw literally dropped. Except for that, the car is fine and I still love it. Nonetheless, I can't deny that the problem indeed is there. Might be just a bizzare probabilistic twist on life, but that's what I know. This is a great forum and I'm looking forward to joining this beautiful community! See you all on the road! |

I agree with "most" of what you say, but with the PT, I've been a victim and have read probably over 2 hundred threads where the fan motor burns out for no reason except they are cheaply made, and the engine overheats as soon as you come to an idle.
Now if your saying engines don't overheat for no reason, that's a given, nothing ever happens for no reason, but they can happen for no reason that the owner was responsible for.

Mine overheated the first week I owned it. Iadmit it was my fault. I beat the heck out of it (30 day bumper 2 bumper waranty.)
What I learned was.... This car was not maintained and was abused. 40k and water pump and tstat and 3 hoses were bad, front upper andlower motormount axels, brakes and a lovely vac leak. 18k later purrs like a tiger. Oil every 2500 to 2900 and good fuel. *knocks on wood* And as far as Chryslers. Try maintaining a 88 2.2 turbo lebaron vert. I dropped $6k into mine when I bought it. But she's great now.
