Default replacing brake light ??

hello all, this may be a silly question but my wifes 04 pt passenger side brake light is out how do you get to the bulb ?? do you take the tail lens off or get to it from iside the car ?? [:I]

Bob,

Yes, the whole rear brake light has to come out. Just one HEX bolt at the bottom holds the light in place. Once that bolt/screw is out, the light will slide down and two retaining clips (one on each side) will release their hold on the tabs on each side. Turn the light over and the bottom bulb is the brake light. Just give it a twist to release the holder and you'll see the bulb.

Actually, it's a Torx head, but it also has a slot for a flat screwdriver.
With the light out, the bulb sockets twist & pull out.

dielectric grease is not a bad investment when replacing the bulbs, keeps moisture out
