Default RKEM HELP

My car acted up a long time ago and just now getting to it. It started making clicking noises in the dash and my door locks went crazy. Then one day, they just stopped. So I have read on and on about a lot of PT Cruisers do it and had read about the RKEM going bad. Can anyone tell me where to buy that part, how much and how to get to where it is exactly? My husband works on cars, but not familiar with a PT and he is willing to fix it if I find out where it is. My warranty is up and my car so I can't take it to a dealer. Any imformation would be great! THANKS!

I believe if I remeber right the rkm is up in the dash behind the radio( iam sure someone else will jump in if I am wrong)
I had the same problem and it ended up being a faulty lock selinoid (sp) in the door causing all the problems[:I]

Did your door locks not work at all including the remote and the inside door rocker? The only way I can lock and unlock it manually

How do you get the top dash piece off? Should I try the doors first?

I've never taken the top dash off, but some have to paint it. Maybe you can reach it through the front panel? As was stated, try somehow to make sure it's that particular part that is bad instead of the solinoid as Umaxman pointed out.

You've got to pull the center bezel off (A/C knobs, window switches, screw) the it helps to remove at least one A pillar molding.
