Default Driver side door lock problem

A little over 6 months ago. My door locks stopped working after a sperratic episode of locking and unlocking. Clicking was coming from the center of the dash.. Read up on the forum and noticed a repeated problem about the RKEM.

I just replaced that today and after six months of not locking or unlocking. Was able to use the automatic unlock/lock button finally.

One problem though. My front driverside door will not lock automatically. I have to manually lock it, but it will unlock with the automatic unlock button. It will also not lock at the 20mph locking stage either.

Any guesses as to what is causing this on an '01 LE?

Does the rocker switch on the door lock it? If not, your problem is wiring - the "lock lead" is loose/off. You'll probably have to take door panle off and look.
It the rocker switch does lock the driver door, then wire feeding into the door for locking is loose/broken.
My opinion....

Rocker switch works to unlock but does not lock the vehicle. Manually lock and rocker will unlock.

I don't know for fact, but seems there would be 3 wires going to lock solenoid - a ground, a hot "lock" wire, and a hot "unlock" wire. You'll have to take door panel off and inspect. Would seem "lock" wire is off/broken...[:I]

Thanks for the help quicksilverdon. I got the problem fixed once I took it to the dealer to have the remotes programmed to the new RKEM. After it was programmed all locks functioned properly.

I'm glad - but that doesn't make sense - I see no way for the RKEM or key programming to make the rocker switch not lock the driver's door....[:I]
If the RKEM was always signalling to unlock the driver's door, then it would unlock it even when you pushed button manually...
WHATEVER - glad it's fixed.
