Thanks for the advice frost and bob, I'll try both of those tips next. I tried something different this time, I switched the passenger side heater button with the drivers side heater button. All you need to do is unplug it and it pops right out. Now when I press the heater button on the drivers side it turns on... almost. It stays on for about 5 minutes then turns off and blinks for a few minutes then shuts off completely. For now that's good enough for me gets the seat warm, the air heater can do the rest.
What this tells me is that the seat heater still works, but maybee there is a heat sensor that has gone bad, which causes it to shut off.
