what do i need to do to install an ipod in my 2005 pt touring?

hey there and welcome. first, i would suggest searching this forum and other PT ones for ipod connections. i know there have been lots of links and ideas posted about this.
as for hooking an ipod up, there are a few choices. easiest ones are the fm transmitters and tape player connections. i never had any luck with fm transmitters, too much interference and poor sound quality. and i do not have a tape player, so i do not know about their sound quality, but it is an easy hook up.
another option, the one i used, it a direct connect. i got an adaptor that plugs into the six disk cd player port on the back of the radio. it comes with a wire that plugs into the ipod, which also charges the ipod and lets you control it with the stereo controls. it is fairly basic, now i think it is harmon kardon that makes an ipod "brain" that hooks up to your stereo and has controls and a monitor, very nice but pricey.
the last option is a new stereo. lots of them come with mp3 aux ports now, even less expensive ones.
like i said, search this forum. also search the internet and even head to best buy or any other audio place. i know best buy sells (and will install) the ipod adaptor i got.
good luck, let us know what you do....
